وقال عقيد في الشرطة يدعى مهدي عباس إن عملية أمس ركزت على استعادة قرية الصوفية إحدى القرى الثلاث التي سيطر عليها التنظيم الأسبوع الماضي.
وكان رئيس الوزراء العراقي حيدر العبادي قد أعلن في مطلع أبريل/ نيسان الماضي أن الدور على الأنبار بعد هزيمة تنظيم داعش في مدينة تكريت. غير أن التنظيم عاد للهجوم على الرمادي وسيطر على مناطق في الشمال والشرق.
تعهدت السعودية بمواصلة استخدام القوة لوقف محاولة الحوثيين في اليمن السيطرة على البلد.
جاء هذا بعد يوم من إعلان السعودية وقف حملة الضربات الجوية التي كانت تقودها ضد الحوثيين في اليمن.

وكان هادي لجأ قد إلى مدينة عدن الساحلية، جنوبي اليمن، بعدما أحكم الحوثيون قبضتهم على العاصمة صنعاء ووضعوه قيد الإقامة الجبرية. وفر في وقت لاحق إلى السعودية.
ومنذ بدء الحملة في 19 مارس/ آذار، قُتل 944 شخصا على الأقل وأصيب 3487 آخرون في الضربات الجوية وكذلك في معارك على الأرض، بالإضافة إلى هجمات شنها جهاديون في اليمن.
وبعد يوم من إعلان وقف حملة "عاصفة الحزم"، أعلن سفير السعودية لدى الولايات المتحدة، عادل الجبير، أن العملية في اليمن دخلت مرحلة ثانية.
وأوضح الجبير أن العملية الجديدة، المسماة "إعادة الأمل"، ستواصل حماية اليمن من سيطرة الحوثيين عليه.
وقال الدبلوماسي السعودي "هدف هذه المرحلة الجديدة هو حماية المدنيين في اليمن من سيطرة الحوثيين، وصد التحركات العدوانية بواسطة الحوثيين... والعمل على تحسين تدفق المساعدات الإنسانية... وتسهيل عمل المنظمات الإنسانية."
وأضاف "عندما يتخذ الحوثيون وحلفاؤهم تحركات عدوانية، سيكون هناك رد. قرار التهدئة يقع بالكامل على عاتقهم."
سيطر الحوثيون على صنعاء وشكلوا حكومة بديلة
وحذر الدبلوماسي السعودي من التطورات في مدينة عدن، مشيرا في الوقت نفسه إلى أنه سيتم اتخاذ كافة الإجراءات لحماية المدينة.
وقال "نرى تحركات للحوثيين مقلقة للغاية في مدينة عدن حيث نرى مناوشات ونرى تحركا لقوات الحوثيين لدخول عدن من ثلاثة اتجاهات."
واستطرد قائلا "نحن عازمون على الاستجابة لطلب الحكومة الشرعية لليمن بتوفير المساعدة لهم من أجل الححيلولة دون حدوث هذا. يجب ألا يساور الشك الحوثيين بأننا سنواصل استخدام القوة لمنعهم من السيطرة على اليمن... هذا لن يتغير."
كما أعرب السفير السعودي عن الأمل في التوصل إلى حل دبلوماسي سريع للأزمة، مشيرا إلى أن إيران يجب ألا تلعب أي دور في مستقبل اليمن.
وقال الجبير "لا نعتقد أن لإيران أي دور تلعبه في اليمن. إيران ليست دولة جارة لليمن. نحن نرى كجزء من المشكلة في اليمن وليس جزءا من الحل."
ومضى قائلا "المساعدة التي قدموه للحوثيين من حيث الدعم المالي والدعم اللوجيستي والأفراد والمعدات العسكرية كانت خطيرة جدا ومزعزعة للاستقرار في اليمن."
ودأبت إيران على نفي تقديم أي مساعدات عسكرية إلى الحوثيين الشيعة.
