• تحت عنوان "إعلان القاهرة"، كتبت صحيفة المدينة السعودية أن العالم لا يزال يتوافق حول تغليب فكرة الحل السياسي للأزمة السورية لإنهاء معاناة الشعب السوري في الداخل، وفي بلدان اللجوء، لاسيما بعد تعذّر الحسم العسكري من قِبل أيٍّ من طرفي النزاع، ورأت أن الجديد في هذا الأمر أن تلعب القاهرة دورًا رياديًّا في العمل من أجل تسريع هذا الحل، بما يُعتبر مؤشرًا هامًّا على عودة الشقيقة مصر إلى ممارسة دورها المؤثّر لاسيما على الصعيد العربي، وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن ما تناقلته وكالات الأنباء مؤخرًا عن اقتراب توصل المعارضة السورية الرئيسة في الخارج والداخل -تحديدًا الائتلاف المعارض وهيئة التنسيق- إلى صيغة تفاهمات تحت مسمّى "إعلان القاهرة" عند لقائهما المرتقب في غضون الأيام القليلة المقبلة في القاهرة، يدفع إلى التفاؤل بإمكانية تحقيق انفراج في الأزمة المشتعلة منذ مارس 2011، مع كلِّ ما خلّفته من مآسٍ ودمارٍ، واعتبرت الصحيفة أن ما يدعو إلى التفاؤل حيال هذا التطور الجديد ليس فقط اضطلاع القاهرة بدور كبير لتحقيق التوافق بين المعارضة السورية في الداخل والخارج، وعلاقاتها الجيدة مع موسكو، والدفع في اتجاه الاتفاق على أرضية مشتركة بينهما (جنيف -1)، إلى جانب الدور النشط الذي يقوم به المبعوث الأممي إلى سوريا ستيفان دي مستورا، وإنما أيضًا -وإضافة إلى ما سبق- بعد أن ملَّ رأس النظام قاتل شعبه الطاغية بشار الأسد من الاستمرار في معارك لا تبدو نهاية لها في الأفق القريب، وبعد أن شعر أن هيمنة الجمهوريين على الكونجرس تعني غلبة كفة المطالبين من أعضاء مجلسيه من النواب والشيوخ بضرورة التخلّص من نظامه الجائر، باستهداف نظامه إلى جانب الحملة على "داعش"، وتسليح المعارضة السورية المعتدلة بالأسلحة الفتاكة.
• كتبت صحيفة اليوم السعودية تحت عنوان "السوريون المنسيون الرهائن"، أنه ليس غريباً أن يقدم نحو ألف أسير سوري في سجون نظام الأسد في حمص على الإضراب عن الطعام للضغط على النظام كي يفرج عن الذين انتهت محكوميتهم، وما زالوا يقبعون في أقبية السجون وبعضهم يمضي سنوات تحت صنوف التعذيب لمجرد أنه انتقد النظام، وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أنه يوجد في معتقلات نظام الأسد مئات الآلاف من السوريين الذين يجري سجنهم لمنعهم من المشاركة في الثورة، أو يتخذهم النظام رهائن لمنع ذويهم من مساندة الثورة أو الالتحاق بفصائل التحرير، وطبقاً لإعلام الثورة السورية، يمارس النظام وقوات الاحتلال الإيراني في سوريا أسوأ صنوف التعذيب للسوريين لأسباب طائفية وعرقية ولرفضهم الولاء للنظام وبالتالي الولاء لطهران، ولفتت الصحيفة إلى أنه منذ اندلاع الثورة السورية ونظام الأسد لا يجد أفضل من السجون مكاناً لإخفاء السوريين ومنعهم من المشاركة في تحرير وطنهم، بعد أن قتل مئات الآلاف وشرد الملايين منهم في منافي الأرض، ودمر عشرات المدن السورية، وأصبح السوريون منسيين الآن بعد أن انشغلت الدول الكبرى التي تزعم أنها تؤيد حرية السوريين، بعقد الصفقات مع طهران، حتى أن قوى الثورة السورية لم تعد تأمل بأي مساندة دولية، وخلصت الصحيفة إلى أنه إذا كان المجتمع الدولي يصدق ويخلص في مواجهته للإرهاب ويود التخلص من جرائم الإرهابيين وآثامهم، فعليه أولاً أن يخلص السوريين من نظام الأسد، وثانياً يمنع طهران من تصنيع بضائعها الطائفية، وتدخلاتها في الشئون الداخلية للدول العربية، عندها سوف لن يوجد أي مسبب لجرائم الإرهاب الطائفي ولا للمنظمات الطائفية.
